I am a graduate of Wright State University, with a Masters degree in Piano Performance in April 0f 2023. I started to play the piano at age 11, but my love for piano began while I was younger. My Grandfather would let me sit on his lap while he played. My feet were dangling as I listened in wonderment to the sounds that flowed from his hands. From then on I would play "concerts" for him. He would sit and applaud like I was royalty. I was hooked. Later on I was able to take piano lessons. I have never stopped playing since.
I have been blessed to have studied under Christine Meyers in Knoxville, IA. She taught me more than just piano. She encouraged and inspired me to love music whole heartedly.
At Simpson College, and High-school I studied under Dr. Micheal Patterson. Though graduated and no longer his student, he has never stopped teaching me. Through phone calls, stacks of books, and excellent advice he still mentors me. He dared me to do more and practice more than I ever dreamed I could. I owe so much to Dr. Patterson for his years of instruction, dedication, and friendship.
In Graduate school Dr. Jackson Leung gave me the beautiful gift of witnessing a professional and sincere love for his students. He daily instructs his students with mastery, and kindness. He sees each student as a person with a heart, not merely a pupil to be refined and taught.
It is my goal to be as influential and inspiring as these four people. They have blessed me with their knowledge, time, and care. I am forever thankful. It is because of them I have a passion to teach piano. I would be honored to teach piano to you or your child. May my passion in teaching piano, become your life long love of music.
